Do you believe God is in control of your circumstances? (121-1)
In the Bible God chooses to teach the principles of leadership experientially through the lives of ordinary people. God looks for leaders who will submit to Him, He then makes those individuals aware of a need, and because the leader has submitted to God’s leadership, that need becomes a burden that compels the leader to act. Read the book of Esther.
The book of Esther was set in ancient Babylon, modern day Iraq, a little more than 460 years before the birth of Jesus. The Persians were the world power and ruled most of the known world. A king in Persia was all powerful and most leaders seeking power and position found ways to get close to the king. The basic story in the book of Esther focuses on a plot by a leader close to the king to exterminate the Jewish people from the face of the earth and how God protected the Jews through the actions of a woman named Esther and a man named Mordecai who were submitted to God. Over the next several days we will look at leadership principles found in the actions of several individuals—some positive and some negative.
As we enter the book of Esther it is important for godly leaders to understand the truth that God is in control of our circumstances. If we submit to Him he may choose to use us in a leadership role to fulfill His plan.
Isaiah 66:2 “Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the LORD. “This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.”
