Nineveh was the capitol of the massive, powerful Assyrian Empire. Nahum was an obscure prophet to Judah whom God directed to announce judgment against the people living in the city of Nineveh. Slightly over a century earlier, through the prophet Jonah, God had called the people of Nineveh to repent and they did.

Have you ever regretted an act of obedience to God? (177-2)

Leaders with a Biblical worldview seek to obey God. Read Hosea 10:12-15.

Israel’s failed leaders were called to account for their lack of obedience to God. These were leaders that, according to verse 12, had a choice to “Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord until He comes and showers righteousness on you.” The sad commentary starts in verse 13 which begins with the words, “But you…” These leaders made a choice that was wicked, deceptive and arrogant and they totally failed to acknowledge that God had any part in their life.
