When a leader stands with God, their position will be secure. Read Jeremiah 15:15-21.

Jeremiah acted with courage to deliver God’s message no matter how unpopular the message or how threatening the crowd. Jeremiah delivered God’s truths even when he had to stand completely alone in opposition to powerful leaders. Jeremiah asked God to remember the stand he took. Jeremiah paid a price for his stance:

What are the priorities your life shows you are living by? (127-2)

Wise leaders do not confuse activity with accomplishment. Read Psalm 49.

David knew ordinary circumstances growing up on a sheep farm as part of a middle class or lower class family, and he knew what it was like to have great wealth and power and live as the king of Israel. Leaders don’t have to have that wide a swing in life circumstances to know that setting life priorities can get confusing and conflicting. Leaders have to decide what matters most or they become victim to their selfish desires or the circumstance that makes the loudest demand. As significant as success, security, and significance are there is something more meaningful, and if a leader misses it they miss everything.

Do your circumstances determine your character? (70-5)

A leader must have faith in their team and be prepared to lead with equal effectiveness regardless of current circumstances. Read Numbers 11-14.

Moses faced open rebellion from the people concerning the kinds of food God was providing. He had his senior leadership lose confidence in him after a marriage to a non-Hebrew. He had 10 of 12 tribal leaders refuse to follow the established course and timeline after they saw the potential problems in the land God had promised them. He faced a total collapse of confidence by all the people when the 10 tribal leaders brought their report out of the leadership team and took it public. Yet when God was ready to strike down the people, Moses begged God to give the people another chance.
